google translate in a popup bookmarklet

by Oren Farhi on February 28, 2009

Hello google chrome users.
Please use the NEW bookmarklets post.
For those who are not familiar with google translate service – it is a translation service that allows you to translate text from one language to another, a whole site and a user’s entered text.
There are many bookmarklets that allow you to translate this current website to your own language, but i like to stay at the current language and translate a single word or a paragraph – and this is where actually Babylon comes in handy.

However, with the latest firefox and chrome releases, babylon doesn’t succeed in getting the selected text right. So i thought – why not making google translate bookmarklet like a babylon window?
The result is very clear – similar to my google bookmarks bookmarklet, you select the any text on the page, click the “translate” bookmarklet and you get a pop up window with the result.

I suggest to also try my other google chrome bookmarklets:

Chinese (Simplified) Chinese (Traditional) Croatian Czech
Danish Dutch English Estonian
Filipino Finnish French Galician
German Greek Hebrew Hindi
Hungarian Indonesian Italian Japanese
Korean Latvian Lithuanian Maltese
Norwegian Polish Portuguese Romanian
Russian Serbian Slovak Slovenian
Spanish Swedish Thai Turkish
Ukrainian Vietnamese
